This picture was commissioned to be presented as a retirement gift to 'Flip' Conradie, a popular senior engineer in the South African Railways (now 'Spoornet'). It features the standard workhorse of South Africa's network, the '6E' electric locomotive (3kV DC), in the old brick-red livery. On the right are two older '5E' locos, the blue one used to haul the country's famous luxury "Blue Train" between Pretoria and Cape Town.
